Copenhagen
When it came to planning our wedding, we knew one thing above all else — we wanted to celebrate with the people closest to us. No big crowds, just the ones who matter most, in a place we truly love.
We have visited Denmark a number of times over the years and fallen completely in love with it. It is one of those rare places that manages to be beautiful, easy-going, safe, and clean all at once.
There's also something special about Denmark's approach to marriage. The Danish government makes it straightforward for non-residents to get married there, and as a result, people fly in from all over the world to tie the knot in Copenhagen. Think of it as the Gretna Green of Europe - or Vegas, if you want to be a little fancier about it.
We can't wait to share this city and our wedding day with you. We hope you fall in love with it just as much as we have.
The Day
Here is an overview of how the day will unfold. We can't wait to celebrate with you.
Join us for a glass of fizz in the City Hall and wait for the ceremony to begin.
Ceremony begins at 13:40.
Photos and a fun activity will follow — ladies may want to bring a pair of flats!
Dinner begins at 17:30. Venue details to be confirmed.
Following dinner, we will be going for drinks until late!
Getting There
The ceremony takes place at the beautiful City Hall of Copenhagen, right in the heart of the city.
Uber is readily available throughout Copenhagen and is the easiest way to get to and from the venue. The city is also very walkable and well-served by public transport.
When and Where to Stay
Copenhagen is super travel-friendly, and you have several options to get there. It also has plenty of beautiful, safe places to stay. We recommend both Airbnb and hotel stays, depending on your preference!
Getting to Copenhagen is straightforward. There are around 4-5 direct flights per day from Manchester to Copenhagen, making the journey easy and stress-free. Alternatively, flying into Malmö Airport in Sweden is another great option — from there, a direct train to Copenhagen Central Station takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Once you land at Copenhagen Airport, Uber is readily available just outside the terminal, and the journey to the city centre takes roughly 20 minutes.
One great option for groups is Airbnb — it's a great way to experience Copenhagen like a local. Areas like Vesterbro, Nørrebro, and the city centre are all within easy reach of City Hall and offer a wonderful mix of cafés, restaurants, and atmosphere. We have provided a search link to the key areas on Airbnb below.
Browse on Airbnb →For those who prefer a more flexible option, a hotel stay may be the perfect choice. Hotels offer the convenience of no minimum stay, easy cancellation policies, and a range of price points to suit every budget. Copenhagen has a fantastic selection of hotels close to City Hall, so you'll never be far from the action.

We ask guests to dress in semi-formal wedding attire. Copenhagen in late August is generally warm but can be cool in the evenings, so we'd suggest bringing a layer for later in the day. We encourage guests to wear something they already own and love!
Copenhagen weather in August can be unpredictable — if the forecast is looking cloudy, it's worth popping a small umbrella in your bag, just in case!
Explore
Copenhagen is a wonderful city with plenty to see and do. Here are some of our personal recommendations to help you make the most of your time there.
Card is king in Copenhagen — very few places require cash, so there's no need to order any currency beforehand. That said, it's worth getting familiar with the Danish Krone to GBP conversion ahead of time so you have a good sense of what you're spending!
Things to Do
A beautiful green escape in the heart of the city — perfect for a relaxed afternoon stroll.
One of the best ways to see the city. Hop on a canal boat and take in Copenhagen from the water.
A really cute street right on the waterfront, lined with colourful townhouses, bars, and restaurants. A must-visit!
Copenhagen's famous free-spirited neighbourhood — a unique, colourful, and one-of-a-kind place to explore.
A stunning 17th-century castle set in the King's Garden. Well worth a visit for a taste of Danish royal history.
Food Markets
Copenhagen's largest street food market, set on the waterfront. A lively spot with a huge variety of food stalls and a great atmosphere.
A covered food market in the city centre offering fresh produce, gourmet food, and some of the best coffee in Copenhagen.
A buzzing outdoor street food market by the canal — relaxed, fun, and full of great food options for every taste.
Copenhagen is more expensive than the UK, but the quality is significantly better — it's absolutely worth it! Do your research beforehand and you will be seriously impressed by the food scene. One great tip: Danish beer is normally much cheaper than other European brands, so when in doubt, order local!
Our Personal Recommendations

A famous bakery chain with truly beautiful pastries — a perfect stop for breakfast or a mid-morning treat.

Surt
Cool Danish-style pizzas from a former NOMA chef. Creative, delicious, and unlike any pizza you've had before.
